I have an answer!

Hey!

So, I had an appointment for the end of November for my surgery, but I got a call on Tuesday offering me a cancellation slot for today. I had so much to get sorted, I never got to update the blog!
I went into hospital this morning at 8am, hungry, nervous but feeling positive!

I was having a laporoscopy, hysteroscopy and a D&C. I was in surgery for around an hour. When I came back around I was quite sore and a bit groggy. I was brought back to the ward and was resting for a while before the doctor came down to see me.

In the hysteroscopy everything looked really healthy, no scarring or damage there, which is a relief. When they did the laporoscopy, they found endometriosis. It's mild, thank goodness. They found 3-4 pieces, which they said is enough to cause the pain I've been having. They lasered it off, which will give me some relief for some time!

I'm coming off the injection Depo-Provera. I'm now on Minulet and I'm taking that consecutively for three months, to give my womb time to settle down. I'm hoping this one works, but the only way to find out is to try it!

It's great to get an answer, it's great to know that I haven't been going crazy. I'm so happy and also quite sad at the same time. It's not the end of the world, it can be treated. I'm lucky in that sense.

I'm on bed rest for the weekend and taking it easy all week. It's my 21st next Friday, so I want to be on top form for that!

I'm back in the hospital in 3 months. I'll post an update soon on how the Minulet is working.

love

Update and future plans

Hello!

I know I haven't put a post up in a long time, I've just been working and sleeping for the last few weeks.
I'm just back from the gynaecologist again.
She wants me to stay on the injection for the next year or so, to give my body a chance to get used to it. It's brilliant getting such a break from everything, but I have to admit it is very weird not having anything at all. I'll stay on it to see what happens, but I know that as soon as I come off it, the pain and cramps will all come back.
I've been booked in for a laporoscopy and a hysteroscopy, the second one will look inside my womb and see if there is anything wrong inside my womb that they can't see on the scans. All the scans and tests I had done have all come up negative, so the only logical solution is endometriosis at this stage. I have no cysts or fybroids, which is good news as well as bad.

I should have a date for my surgery soon, should be about 12-15 weeks, but the doctor didn't mark it as urgent. She wanted to wait for 6 months, but I wanted to get into the system as soon as I can. I'm fed up waiting and not knowing.

Hopefully I'll get an appointment soon, I'll keep updating this blog!

So beyond fed up with fainting!

I had an exam at 3.30 today. I had a medical certificate explaining that I was sick, but felt ok enough to do the exam. I walked out and just passed out. Very embarrassing as there was 90 faces looking at me!!
Luckily one of my friends was a nurse, so she was there and fixed me right up.
I went home and chilled out at home for the evening, wasn't feeling the best but much better than I was.
Where I got the injection of Depo-Provera (I found out the correct spelling!), it's quite sore!!
I'm sitting quite awkward, I got an injection in each cheek...it's quite funny! My mam thinks its funny anyway!

I'm tired now, the strong painkillers and cramps are very hard on me. They drain me out. I'm going to go to the college in the morning and study. I've exams on Monday and Tuesday. I'm in work again tomorrow, but the staff I work with know what I am like, so I can go and sit down if I feel like I'm going to faint!!

I've told a few of my friends about this and hopefully more people will join the site.
Ideally, I would like this space to be somewhere that people who have endometriosis or other conditions, such as PCOS, can all talk together, share stories, tips that work for easing cramps and other things!

I've found speaking to one friend in particular who has it as well has helped me so much, as she has calmed my fears about diagnosis. She's a total pet, and I don't know what I would do without her!! ...You Know Who You Are!!!....thank you!!

Sleep time now, going to get some sleep and then attack study with gusto in the morning!!!!

Night all!!

Just back in the library after being at the doctors again. I got stuck with another needle and I didn't faint...which is simply amazing!! They've started me on the injection, hopefully I might respond better to this than the pills. I'm a little woozy and can not write properly or spell, hopefully by half three when my exam starts I'll be able to spell!
Depropavera is the injection they started me on, hopefully it will help!
Until next time!

another update!

So, today things got a lot worse. I fainted last night in the library, was in a lot of pain all day during work and it got worse as the evening went on.
New spasms have started, which are getting worse.
I had to get an injection today of Tramadol, the pain was just unbearable and kept on fainting all day. It was quite scary, as I have a terrible fear of needles!! Not going to be fun and I'm looking at lots in the coming months! Not a great fear to have!!

I got the date for my ultrasound, so things are moving somewhere. This is to rule out everything else before they cut me up for the laparoscopy. I'm scared but I know it's all going to be worth it and I'll be in good hands.
If anyone is reading this and has similar problems, please go to your doctor! They can suggest different things and help ease the pain. Email me if you want to talk privately!!

So it's Saturday and the pain is gone at last!
I've had a week of it, so the last day and a half have been brilliant.
I only fainted once which is good! I'm happy now!
I've an english essay to do and it's just not working out at all for me. I'm so fed up with it!
It's about what Heathcliff represents in Wuthering Heights and I just cannot figure it out at all.
I'm going to a family thirtieth birthday tonight, which is something to look forward to. I would love to have this essay done before it.

I don't really mind if no one reads this, it's a way for me to help deal with the problems I'm facing and if I help anyone that's a bonus.

I haven't had time to post in so long, had assignments and what not to do.
So since I posted last, I have seen another specialist.
First we paid for a private gynaecologist, as we didn't know how long the wait time was. He told me what sort of situation I was in and what I needed to do. He did a small internal exam. He thinks its most likely endometriosis but the only way to prove it definitively is by laporoscopy, the thought of which terrifies me. I have a very bad phobia of needles and have been known to faint when I come in contact with them!
So they want me to have an ultrasound as well. Myself and my mam decided to wait and see what the wait list was with public health.
About two weeks later we got an appointment in the post for public! Typical, if I had have just waited it would have taken three years!! So we went along.
The doctor was lovely. She took a few tests, did a smear and an std test (No chance I could have one...just my boyfriend on the scene..one and only ;))
She didn't say it was anything in particular, which was a good and a bad thing. The first doctor ruled out PCOS (Polycystic ovaries) immediately as I would be in pain all the time, but I'm not. This second doctor didn't, and this worried me more.
She has referred me for an ultrasound, so I should be back with them in four months.

I'm currently in a lot of pain. I stopped this months pill on Thursday night and I've been getting cramps since then. I'm taking my painkillers and they aren't working. I don't know how much longer I can cope with this pain. I know it's getting sorted and soon it will be worked out, but the pain is bad now. I just want it gone!

I'll post more tomorrow, it's a good way of tracking the pain, which I need for the doctors.

My first post!

This is my story. I've never done this before so bear with me! I've an awful lot going on in my life and always wanted to blog to help sort some stuff out, so I thought better now than ever.

I'm currently facing possible endometriosis, coming out of a bad depression, studying for college and juggling life. I'm scared, happy, sad, worried and fine all at the same time and just feel a bit fed up thinking about what I have to do and what everyone expects from me. I'm struggling with my faith, unsure of who I believe in anymore. I don't really care if no one reads this, it would be lovely if I did, but I'm doing this to help myself first and foremost.

So a bit about myself. I'm 20, in college, studying for an arts degree. I've a boyfriend of five years, living at home with my family and not working at all. My health is all over the place. I was just getting ready to come off my anti-depression tablets which I have been on for a year, and I get landed with this possible endometriosis.

I've always struggled with my periods but lately they are so much worse. I pass out from pain, can't stand and cry for a week and a half in agony. I couldn't stand it any more. I'm now waiting to find out where I am on a public waiting list. I'm petrified and happy at the same time. Petrified about what I'm about to face and happy I finally have an answer.

This blog is going to track how I feel during this process, and hopefully it might help me find a bit more of me as I go along. That's all for now, as I'm exhausted and going asleep.
